XSR 900 & MT/FZ07 Handlebars

I know there’s a few handlebar posts but some of them are older and seem to have dried up.

Does anyone have any photos of their XSR700 with the XSR 900 or FZ07 bars on it and if so, how do you like them?

I can’t stand the stock 700 bars, they are really taking away from the pleasure of riding this fine machine! They are way too high for my tatse. I ordered the FZ bars and some universal clamps as the bars aren’t fat at the clamp area.

I have zero experience in swapping out stock bars even for other stock bars. If I was confident, I would get some Protapers and rock on. It seems too messy to install.

MT/FZ07 bars = 22 mm = not for XSR 700
MT/FZ09 and XSR 900 = 28 mm = OK for XSR 700

If you want to fit other handlebars (Renthal, Pro Taper, LSL, ABM, Rizoma, etc.), you have to drill holes for the switch controls ;)

I would have liked to help you but I live too far from you :D

Yeah I was under the impression though that with universal clamps, you could make a 22mm bar fit just fine. I guess I’ll be ordering the XSR900 bars then! I liked the width of the FZ bars the best. Anything will be an improvement over the 700 bars.
Yes you can swap the clamps by 22 mm clamps. But fat bars are more lovely ;)

Yeah looking at the clamp set up, I think I'm just going to get the XSR900 bars. Anything other than the 28mm and it'll be way too messy. I may go to something like Pro tapers though. I'm just worried about the width, drilling holes for the set up and finding good bar mirrors to work. I have no experience in reusing the stock bar ends. I found a great bar end mirror that's really cheap on them! I like the slightly more aggressive riding position though so we'll see!
