My SV1000S, TRX850 and the oddball BMW, had plenty of others but these were three of my favourites, particularly the TRX with that 270 degree crank, like the XSR:
Built this one - 66 Norton featherbed frame; 69 Tri Bonnie engine; Suzuki TLS front brake; Norton Commando forks;
BSA B50 rear hub; Akront rims; lots of stainless everwhere; Unity Eqip. Manx seat-tank-oil tank. Took about three years to build...(pics are from a local calendar shoot
My main ride - I resisted the German Kool-Aid for 40+ years, but a test ride and a great deal on a well farckled '14 demo in July of '15 sealed the deal. I set it up for the Butt Lite X with 5gal. fuel cell and turn night to day Clearwater Lites this past winter... I retired last July and rode this bike to all 4 corners of the US on a month long 12,000 ride. I have 66K miles on this one and love it.
My gem - Bought this Paso 750 new in 1987 and have it refined well beyond what it was when it left the factory... Taper bore Malossi carbs, Bub's slip-ons, heads ported by one of the best Ducati tuners in the country and all pulled together on the dyno with 74HP at the wheel... 50,000 miles and still looks and runs like new.
Here's my old "winter" bike - I did some ice racing, enduros, and supermoto with this beast - I sold it a few years ago as a self-preservation move. I have a seriously compromised and fully fused spine due to a disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis and finally sold as a risk management move.
My first brand new motorcycle - May 81. I had a nice 75 Norton Commando that I had broke the transmission main-shaft that I traded in on this rare (even then) '80 Ducati Darmah SS. I was making about $7 an hour and lived with roommates driving a $200 beater - sound priorities 🤣 I became good friends with the husband/wife owners of this very small Ducati shop that worked on Brit/HD to survive - great shop while it lasted/lifelong friends (RIP Billy). "Everybody" here was either road racers or very experienced café street riders. Game changer for this country boy. This is the first bike I ever tracked and road raced. Hence you see three version as the bike was crashed (track & street) and rebuilt quite a few times. New is the silver/blue; version two is the deep blue; and version three is a (budget) custom rebuild. Very cut down batwing Showa and Yamaha headlight - the NCR 2-1 pipe was awesome! I had the red version at Road America and did the Cali Superbike School on Monday (1987) - Ducati had Italian based factory rep's at the AMA races that weekend - they where at the track Monday with the race team - they stuck-out in their suits and black Lincoln Town car...I noticed they took quite an interest in the red bike taking a bunch of photo's.... the inspiration for the Ducati Monster ...I like to think so 😁
