So I seemed to of FUBARed by seat. :frown2: The lock is stuck and I can't get it off. I suspect I might of disconnected the cable from the lock to the mechanism when fiddling with the battery cover.
Any suggestions on how to rectify this problem?
Could someone provide a picture of the under side of the stock seat?

That was the first thing I saw when I removed the seat. That the wire attached to the latching mechanisme could go loose very easily so I added a little piece of tape to the opening that covers the U shape to make it a O shape to lock it in place :) Could take a picture if needed.

Thanks Kaptin. I've already got pictures of what's under the seat, but none of the underside of the seat to see how the catch is attached.

Will be taking it in for service next week, will see if they can fix it.

I've just been out to the garage. Took some snaps, also tried to McGyver the sh*t out of it. You can see with my easy to view RED cable tie, there is a direct way to hit the latch.

I would suggest using a flat metal tie wrap, like a metal cable tie if you know what I mean. I did notice that it takes very little pressure to move it back out of the lock position.

Cheers Kap. Hadn't considered the possibility of pushing the latch. Was wanting to see if it's possible to get a spanner in and detach the catch from the seat.

Will be taking it to the dealer on Friday for it's service, hopefully they'll manage to get it off.

Once off I'll do as you say, Damouzer, to prevent it from happening again, thanks.

Did they manage to accomplish that?

Yes! ... Sorry, been busy couple of weeks and forgot to report back.

They did eventually manage to fix it, though they it did take a long while of them head scratching.
When they were done I ****** up and forgot to ask them how they managed it in the end since it was late and I had to rush off...

Got it ! First cast !
Fed the hooked welding rod in, using the first cable abutment as a guide, reached beyond it, where I could not see, wiggled the hook, and BINGO!

This is what bike forums are ruddy brilliant at. Thanks to all you guys who contributed,. Hopefully other sufferers will find this a big help also.

I had the same issue when fitting a tail tidy. I figured I could squeeze a finger through the gap where the brake/indicator wires go through and push the lock mechanism. This lifted the seat off. I hope this helps anyone else with the issue.
Happened the same to me...

Glad i found your comment and was able to find the mecanism with my finger and open it! You just saved me hours of head scratching, visits to the mechanics...

Thank You!
