One of the first mods I was considering was taking out that ugly license plate base and installing a smaller one.
After checking it out I found out that in order to do that you have to cut the plastic cover under the rear fender, cause it is one piece and I am not willing to destroy it.
Any thoughts on this?

There will assuredly be a tail tidy kit that comes out. There always is. I don't even get why they make bikes like this. Everyone likes the look of the tail tidy kit better. They should just sell them that way to begin with.

Someone could always fab up something with parts found at the local hardware store, and best of all walk out spending $20.
I checked it out man, I am a bit of a gearhead, bought a cheap universal tail tidy at 30 euros, but the plastic cover under the rear fender is a whole piece going straight under the seat. I don't want to cut it, I want the original parts to be undamaged.

Check this out!

http://www.barracudamoto.es/moto/yamaha/xsr-700/gdf.html?___store=barracudamotoes_es&___from_store=barracudamotoes_gb

Available soon.
A little bit expensive, but hopefully it solves the "plastic cover underneath the rear fender" issue.
A bit up their in price but worth it since there's nothing else to think of unlike those universal kits or anything else. Worth the time you'll save and that's one thing we'll never get back, time!

Hopefully more companies come out with eliminator kits just for the range of choice.
