OK, the search is over.
I was still undecided, until I stumblet upon this, on eBay.
Dealer wall demo.
MSRP = $899
eBay = $557 after s/h etc.
I'm having Two Brothers send me a BLACK Logo.
And I will Cerakote the header, all clamps, and fasteners, EVERYTHING that's silver.
With 1,400 degree satin black.
I'm completely confident it will hold up, this is not my first exhaust coating job.
I've been Cerakoting 6-7 years, I've done dozens of firearms, car parts, etc.
I bought the coating weeks ago, this has been my plan all along.
I just wasn't sure what system I would be coating...
Awesome and one of a kind.

This thread is now basically dead.
I figured the next step deserved it's own "new" thread.

The Two Brothers fit like a glove, is BEEFY as heck, way bigger tubes.
But even with the DB reducing tip, it's was too loud for me, until I remembered...
A long forgotten spare DB killer from a previous build.
OMFG! It fit right in the entrance to the muffler, and made a difference...
But probably not enough. I'm on the fence, I'll probably re-list it on eBay for a loss.
And, it's back to the drawing board...

I know... impulse buy (at half the cost)... did NOT work out for me.
I can recoup MOST of my $$ from it.
I don't drop the ball like this often.
I can own up to it when I do.

Sound, is so subjective, and not well represented by YouTube.
Smartphones have phenomenal cameras, but the mic does't compare.

It's hard to justify spending $900-$1,400 on an exhaust that's only marginally louder than stock.
But sadly, I'm finding that I am that customer...

I liked riding my bike more with the stock exhaust on it.
So for now, I'm dropping back, and re-thinking this whole chapter.

A tiny bit louder but a deeper grumble and meaner rev is a good thing, and worth it for your build imo. If I put in all the work you did or decided to keep the bike for many years I would do it. But I see a redesigned 900 on the horizon in a couple years. I can't justify that 900-1400 either right now. In fact if I could spend 1k $ outside of an actual bike I'd get a one piece aerostitch waxed cotton jumpsuit so it would be easier to stay protected and ride to work more often (where I have to dress up). Wish I did that years ago instead of leather jacket and kevlar jeans. I wish you luck in finding the right one.

I understand you're looking for a small tucked underneath exhaust but just found this and it's not loud with the db killer in but it has that deep Rumble. I translated comments, Danish, and the db killer is still in. I found this exhaust online for 428 euros and 629 in US.

Neat find. I had previoustly only ever seen IXIL's black double barrel pipe.
Which I think is kinda ugly (personally).

This "Ironhead" model VERY closely mimics the Akrapovic double for XSR.
And I gotta say, I think the sound is pretty good.

** TAKES DEEP BREATH**

This is going to be an interesting few days...
I have an SC project exhaust sitting in a virtual shopping cart on my desktop PC...

Having the Two Brothers mounted up for a few days made me realize...

The short exit spot (by your heel) makes sound come directly up to your helmet more.
Exiting farther behind your helmet (like most bikes) has it's advantages.

I checked into IXIL more, and found this.
Sounds very nice on the video.
I would remove that carbonfiber side plate, and Cerakote the system black.
It's the smoothest (no CRACK) sound I ever heard W/O DB killer.

🤞Äh...

All the sound discussion vanishes a little in that moment you install the Hord Power solution. This will be the primary sound you will perceive during riding. Think that most of the exhaust noise will be outplayed.

Just keep in mind, the intake noise can be annoying as well.

Sounds nice, but I don't love the look and if you take that carbon aesthetic plate off it may look worse. Even after coating. Need to see more up close pics of the unit not installed. I just watched a high mount akropovic video of a guy riding for 10 minutes, it sounded terrible. Maybe it's the phone speakers or his mic, but if louder is gonna sound like that then no thanks. Need to find more video of people riding not just idling and revving neutral. The iron head ixil I can tell will sound nice on the road because it was not loud at all but deep and resonant. Sounded lux. That's what steers me away from the old cheaper sc project conic, it doesn't sound deep and clean to me, sounds more agricultural and flimsy, imo. Maybe the hord power intake sound will change all that anyway like hombacher said, when not idling.

I realized that. I had the Two Brothers on my bike for 9 miles and learned a lot. I’m willing to take a loss on this whole situation and start over.
I will list both the exhaust and the air box on eBay on my next days off. I will get a Euro4 compliant (fairly quiet) exhaust, and run the stock air box. (possibly experiment with removing the snorkel)I never installed the air box, and put 9 miles on the exhaust, I figure I can get 2/3 - 3/4 of my money back and I will have learned a valuable lesson.

749! Awesome. I've been praising that exhaust for 3 years. Congrats. Please do us a favor and give us audio while riding it, you'd be the first to. No reflash needed. That exhaust was truly made specifically for the xsr700.

OK, I've come FULL CIRCLE !

My first choice from the beginning was the Leo Vince EVO II Underbody system.
I drifted away from that idea for unknown reasons, but now, I have ordered one.
$639 - free shipping.

I have also made arrangements with 2WDW (TwoWheelDynoWorks) .
They've agreed to flash my ECU, in trade, for my Hordpower airbox.

Skip forward to 6:00 if you want to see the "after install" footage-sound.
