performance loss

Hi guys,
i'm looking for your help as i'm apparently missing something.

Couple weeks ago i replaced stock exhaust with IXIL Dual Hyperlow and everything was fine for some time.
Then after some time i started noticing perfomance loss, couldnt get over 8k rpm and cannot get bike over 140kmph. Acceleration was also quite bad.

A friend of mine told me it is definitely the new exhaust and i might get leak from using the same sealing gasket. So i replaced the sealing with new one - acceleration was better, problem with rpm and top speed persist.

I thought lambdasond might get some bad input as the exhaust aftermarket, so tried to disconnect the battery overnight to reset it - no change.
I mounted back the original exhaust with new sealing gaskets, disconnect the battery overnight again - no change.

I'm pulling my hair out of what might be the issue with performance loss.

I can definitely just go to the dealer to get the bike serviced, i was just hoping to solve this myself.
Can be lamdasond be the issue? Does it need some time to recalibrate again?

Thanks for any advice.

I don't want to discourage you, but it probably needs remapping. I had that conversation with my dealer and he told me that he can only vouch for the Akra, any other exhaust may cause troubles, like the ones you are having.
I hope it is something that will be resolved easily, and with the lowest possible cost.
Good luck!
Hi Debo, no doubt a pain but i would suggest reverting to stock exhaust to confirm that is the reason for performance loss. If no improvement you'll know it is something else. Others have the IXIL hopefully they'll confirm if remap/power commander is necessary.
Hi Debo,

Have you spoken with the vendor about this? Maybe they've experienced this issue before? There are not many suppliers for this exhaust in the uk, I have just ordered one myself, and I have spoken with both bikermart and brspecialtuning this week, and both are super helpful.

The Ixil Hyperlow is not supposed to require a remap, if installed on a standard machine. If you have upgraded the airbox, this would change things, and would suggest a remap. It's a fairly popular exhaust, for the xsr and the mt07, and I've not heard of this problem before.

Agree at the moment with the other respondees, in that it does sound like something has caused the mapping to go awry, and a reflash might be required here.
I'm not convinced it's a mapping issue - but if you do ask a dealer to reflash the mapping just to be sure, perhaps they could put on the Akra map rather than the stock map? I expect the Akra map will be much closer to what an optimal Ixil map would be, than the stock map..
A power commander sounds like it'll be necessary. Typically that would be it majority of the time. Kinda sucks but at least you'll then get to really reap the benefits from it?
Thanks guys,
i was suspecting i wouldnt be able to fix it myself.

I've reverted to stock exhaust and will ride some time on it to see how it behaves.
IXIL is really great exhaust, unfortunately my dealer also told me that hey support only Akra and also there a remap is recommended.

I will give them a call and post back.
Thanks
So as a result of my own stupidity, i decided to tell everybody what happened.
Apparently you are not supposed to keep your face mask under the seat as it might get sucked into the airbox and obviously affect the bike perfomance significantly :D

Anyway, thanks for help guys

LMAO!!!!! That sucks mate! But nice easy fix though....:wink2:
LOL, good story, and thanks for the tip!
Hahaha, oh dear. Well I've done stupider than that many more times over.

Appreciate the post, as I've fitted this exhaust recently and have been keeping an eye on it at high revs, just in case!
