Open face or full face?

I know this is a dodgy one but my wife got me a decent ls2 full face that got rave reviews for xmass and a little cheapy ls2 rocket open face as a treat the other day.
Im not sure how i feel about open face as i feel like it can be ripped of in a crash so what fo you guys wear?

Is open face okay for town during the summer?

An open face looks cool, but if you fall and go chin first... you'll get a new look, that I'm not sure will be to
your wife's taste. :)

Full face for me. My only concession is a flip up (a scuberth c3 pro that I got for a good price on the net) that I always use closed, except when parking or stopped asking for directions :).
Always full face, I quite like my jaw! Safety is paramount over looks, there are plenty of cool full face lids out there.
I always went full face but this year I got an open face lid - which will be used for short runs etc. It's an AGV RP60 which I got at the bike show last year. Also a set of Aviator Pilot tinted goggles.....!

With regard to 'what ifs'.......I lost my right leg in a bike accident many years ago so know how bad things can go.....(wasn't my fault mind). But life is too short, and I don't push the odds!

Open face for zipping up to the post office. Any further, definitely full face.
I had such a coincidence that when I was driving behind a large truck, a stone from under the wheels hit me in the helmet visor. I was wearing a half-open face helmet with visor and if this stone hits me a few centimeters lower, probably I could lost my teeth. I've decided then to buy full face helmet.
I do like the idea/look of an open face helmet, but for safety's sake i'll always wear a full face... sometimes even hitting an insect at speed can be felt through your jacket and come keen, so i certainly wouldn't fancy one hitting me on the cheek/chin area....and besides i have a beard so it would be full of all sorts of dead insects...!!!

Full Face ! Apart from the valid safety issue - on a previous trip in Spain sort sort of wasp thing hit me on the cheek whilst the visor was open. IT HURT LIKE **** ! So never again...!!
Definitely full face not only just because I like the jaw line, but because of the mentioned above. Debris flying at you isn't fun at all lol. Either bugs, rocks, etc.
Okay so as i fully expected full face app the way.....ill have to wear it at some point or she will be dissapointed lol
Lol throw it on and give it a go around the block a few times.. maybe stop on the other side.. enjoy some fresh air and come back ;)

Walk around the house with it on from time to time.
I shall take it to the garage switch helmets and walk in with it on sometimes lol.
I may wear it during the summer on my little work bike (yamaha nmax 125)
Having seen a great many flies wriggle around my mates beard, it's full face all the way for me!
I know I am a bit late to this discussion..

But I bought a Bell Riot helmet which is open faced but with a full faced visor.

Ive not been hit by anything yet but the visor seems to protect from the wind and I love the extra visibility you get.

I have to agree that if I know I am going for a bit of a blast I think I will put my full face on just for the extra safety but I do like the riot helmet!!
My misses came on the bike yest and the open face helmet she gave me fits her a treat so i told her cuz i love her she can have it 😁 win win!!! She said it was actualy not windy and i ride slowly with her on the bike anyhoo
Bonus!! I will be taking my missus out for the first time this weekend..pillion riding a whole new experience for me!!
Yes its been 4 years since ive ridden my last big bike triumph tt600 sports bike and before that a gsxr 600. Ive been riding a little scooter for a year to work as i live in southampton and traffic is a nightnare in a car.
only been out 4 times on the xsr but with her on the back for the first time it rides like normal just feels heavier towards the back end. Slow menouvre is a little more difficult i must admit.

If you've a full face visor you'll be fine against debris etc....but (and i hate saying this)..... it's IF you come off...that's where the full face is a necessity in my opinion... you'll also find you're looking down at the speedo a lot more because of it's position, unless you reposition it of course...
I do agree with the coming off situation and that's the part that worries me.

In relation to full face I have an HJC IS and its so bloody noisy I just hate wearing it!

Any suggestions on replacements or is it all down to personal preference?
I have an LS2 civik and i am a subscriber to fortnine on youtube and they rated it best helmet under 300 dollars (canadian reviewers) i got it on a special for £90 and i beleive its even cheaper now....alot of features for that price. Only thi g is noise on the left is more due to tge inner sunglass slider so tge foam is thinner.
