Hey all, Shawn here, new to the forum from Seattle, WA. I recently sold my 2013 FJR 1300 and 2016 FZ07. I just bought a 2017 FJ09. As I was signing the paperwork, the dealer wheeled out a 2018 XSR700. Much to my chagrin of course. I wasn't aware Yamaha was going to release the XSR700 stateside so soon!

My FZ07 was the best all around motorcycle I've ever had. I haven't taken delivery of the FJ09 yet and am already considering trading it in to get the XSR700. I personally love the look of the bike. I lean towards retro/vintage aesthetic. I am moving back into the city from a rural area and think the XSR would fit better. The FJ09 may be too much power for urban day to day riding. And, that FZ/MT07 motor is nothing but sublime. I'll ride my FJ a bit but I have a strong feeling I'll end up with the XSR.

Other bikes I've owned: 2008 Suzuki DRZ 400 SM, 2016 Harley Davidson Roadster 1200 and various Peugot Scooters.

Cheers all!

Thanks for the reply Redsox! I really do think I'd enjoy the XSR for the city more than the Tracer/FJ-09. I don't do anything longer than day trips. I loved the FZ/MT07 when I lived downtown. I didn't realize how popular the XSR was in Europe! Looks like a fantastic machine!
What dealership were you using? I'm in Puget Sound area as well exploring options.

I've been using Hinshaws of Auburn. They aren't bad at all. Low pressure and communicative. They priced match my FJ09 to a local dealership but wouldn't budge on much else. However I will be checking the other dealers around as well (Ride in Woodinville and Tacoma Motorsports).

How has the Costco motors program worked? Have you had any luck with it? I'd never heard of it until I saw your post in another part of the forum.
Welcome to the forum! :)
I have had an DRZ400sm to.

That's what I learned on, I really loved the bike, I'd Deff. buy another one! I kept mine all stock, can't imagine that bike modded out and loaded up, it'd be a blast! Great machine!
Yes it was a great bike that brings out the worst in the rider that was the reason i sold it.
But i miss it a lot. :)
Min was stock with some handguards as only mod.
