MIVV Ghibli

Hi,
I'm considering to have the Mivv Ghibli Low installed. I like what I'm seeing and hearing on YouTube and I like the price of nearly 500€ even more.
I'm a bit concerned though this exhaust is not homologated/approved dB and CO2. I don't worry about the police. They don't bother much here in Belgium and the exhaust still has a dB-killer. But I read about lack of backpressure that generally comes with non-homologated systems, which could harm the engine. Is this an issue?

I wouldn't worry about "back pressure" as much as the A/F ratio on this set up. It may be OK then again without a run on a dyno you'd never know and another five bills or so for a fuel controller might be in order. The price differential alone would give me pause. Most, if not all other systems cost a lot more and the old saying goes...……...well, you know.
Thanks for the response.
I also tend to be suspicious when the price seems to good to be true. But my dealer talks very positively about MIVV in general. However, he wouldn't recommend SC Project and that also sounds weird to me...

The SC project conic exhaust was mentioned specifically in a yamaha letter about non-warranty engine damage. Should be somewhere on the forum.
This is the answer I got from MIVV. So it isn't even streetlegal...

I have the Ghilbi high exhaust, which is street legal in europe.

It sounds great and I'm super happy with it. It's a bit more expensive though (about 700 euro).

I assume you're talking about the French letter that was posted here at one point about the engine failure?

There was an issue with the translation in the post, it fails to mention that this issue is seen specifically when using an SC project exhaust on XSR700 that has had its power limited to 35kW.

If you go back to the post and check the picture of the original mail, It clearly states that in the beginning.

I was! Thanks for clarifying!

I wonder why the limited version has this issue, as the EU limiter is just a throttle bracket keeping you from turning the throttle all the way open....
Really interested in this thread as I'm quite keen on the SC Project for my XSR. You've probably seen me posting about exhausts quite a lot lately! (Ironically I also like the Mivv, but have similar concerns about street legality).

When talking to my local Yammy dealer however, they also suggested not fitting the SC Project as it's 'poor quality' – which is interesting to hear.

Granted they would only fit exhaust systems that they supply (Akra, Scorpion, Remus) and likely get commission from doing so… but yeah.

Not sure where to head on the exhaust front at the moment!
I still had the Ghibli mounted. Next Monday I can pick up the bike at my local dealer.
Picked up the bike today. My dealer hadn't put the baffle in. Fun short ride home but really offensively loud. People on the streets standing still and staring at me. 🤨
With the baffle in, it is still loud and it has a nice deep roar but it's acceptable (if you're open-minded 😉). Performance wise I didn't notice any difference and that's good enough for me.
The look of the Ghibli really suits this bike. I'm happy with it.

Nice! My dealer won't fit anything they don't supply so DIY job for me if I got it.

I think it's between this and the SC Project...
Thank you. I'm almost there. Just looking for someone to make me a custom vintage leather flatseat.

The guys at Brogue in the US do a really nice leather seat fabrication… They seem nice guys too, so you may be able to go a bit bespoke with it if you ask?
Pictures or it didn't happen?
That is one very good looking XSR. What tank protectors and headlight cowl have you fitted? I'd be interested if you are still happy with your choice of exhaust after a bit more use, I am also considering the Ghibli 👌
