Hello Forum Members,

Just purchased my XSR700 on the 15th.

Looking for advice on removing the tank emblem.
was curious if the emblems are just two sided tape, or embedded into the tank?

to note: I plan on getting the tank panels hard anodized, so it would be nice to have a clean smooth work surface.
bike picture attached.

Thank you, Brad

Howdy! And yes sir, and I’m about to do the same. I haven’t done it yet, but it’s some sort of adhesive or double sided tape. Easily removed with dental floss and some wd40 if residue remains. Going in brushed aluminum, coming out either white or black. Going to be a toss-up!

Thank you Jacob,

I did watch some videos using the dental floss method.
Now all I have to do is pick which color to anodize it in.
probably do the rad guards too.

I'll post pics once it's done.

Warm Regards, Brad

Letters be gone

Had to do it without the hair dryer.
tank letters went oh, but the warning sticker on the center panel was a real bugger!

Glad it worked out well.
Thanks for the helpful advice all.

Happy New Year!!!

I did the same thing with the warning sticker. Was a bit of a pain to get off. I have the same exact bike and exhaust 👍🏻 love it!

How do you like the exhaust with the baffles out? Did you get a tune? I drilled a bunch of holes in mine and ended up puting it back in after a week. Rather undecided on it.

I love the exhaust system. Haven't removed the baffles yet.
was planning on getting it on the dyno and flash the ECU once i cover the break-in period.

Love this bike!

Sorry for the delayed response.
Been laid up with the Flu.

As for the baffles, I'm not quite sure now?
I had the dealers install the exhaust before I picked it up.
There was no mention either way regarding baffles.

I do love how it sounds now.
What do the baffles actually look like?
Just curious...

I love the low rev rumble it has, and it really barks in the upper rev's as well.
after looking at the exhaust end , it does seem to be recessed in about four inches or so.
That must be what helps with the harmonics,

As for DB level, it's louder then my buddies 650 DR with a Yoshi.
But quieter then my 650 KLR with a Two brothers drag pipe. ( It's obnoxiously loud)
but that's comparing thumpers with twins...

Hi Brad, removing the logos looks great! How do you go about hard anodizing the panels, is it possible as they are made of plastic? I've been thinking of doing something similar but looking at wrapping the panels..

Hello,

well color me educated, I assumed the panels were aluminum.
that negates the anodizing that's for sure.

I'll have to give it some thought.
reason being, i was going to do the side rad guards, and front fender the same color.

back to the drawing board.
If you do decide to get yours wrapped, please share photos, would love to see that.

thank you for the heads up on the panels, Brad

Apologies! I have the Forest Green version here in the UK and they are plastic on mine, In assumed they would all be the same.
Are you sure about that, as I doubt something that Yamaha would have changed?
Without taking them off, you should be able to tell they're Metal as on a cool day the side pieces will be much colder to the touch than the centre one.
If you do take them off though, you should have confirmation, as the rear of the side panels aren't completely painted.
