Hi I passed my test at the age of 41 after riding my back aching cbr125 for the past 2 1/2 years.

Was going to go for a Bonneville but seeing the XSR700 and reading the reviews I am so glad I went for it..The bike is amazing, Great fun and comfortable! and £4000 cheaper than the triumph!!:grin2:

So with a bit of the extra cash I saved I am going to personalize it a bit I've put on the R&G Tail Tidy which looks very neat and just some Bobbins, Fork protectors and Rad Guard Just in case I drop it!.

The bike is my first Big Bike and I am just in love with how it rides and I am obviously new to all the extra power (Apart from the odd squirt of the throttle I am taking it a bit easy!)

Looking forward to some good advice and seeing what you guys are getting up to with your bikes and I hope to get involved in some discussions soon.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on pulling the trigger!

Are you a diy kinda guy that likes to get in there and work on his bike??
Hey welcome, great to have you aboard.
Totally agree with your words, my first bike ever and i passed my test last year at 47!!!
You just can't beat it for value for money and smiles per mile...best thing i ever did, i find it soooo easy to ride compared to my Ducati.
So which colour did you go for forest green, garage silver, black or anniversary?? oh and where are you from??. Paul
Hey Rivski,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on passing your test! Look forward to seeing photos of your bike!

Steve
Hi thanks for the messages..

Yes I am an Engineer Toolmaker so I do a lot of manufacturing and altering of all things metal so I really fancy having a play around with this bike.

I have gone for the bike in Garage Metal Silver and for a first bike I really dont think I could have chosen any better..

Ive put an R&G tail tidy on which looks really neat and some Bobbins and fork protectors also a Rad Guard for a bit of extra protection!

I am from Bramhall near Stockport
Sweet! Can't wait to see the work you get done to this and what you fab up, make sure to keep us updated :)
will do it wont be anything drastic as I just love the bike but changes will be made!!
Welcome rivski. Enjoy her and juat remeber if she is brand new take the first 100 - 150 miles very easy to bed in them tyres especialy on the sides as the tyre profile is very sloping as to make the bike tip in quicker. Sorry if thats suck eggs but worth noting.

Enjoy bud 😁
I am taking it very easy Matt the dealer was very clear to me to do that as he said the same as you just have..
Dont think ive been over 4500 revvs yet! And certainly safety first with me I want to enjoy the bike for a long time!

Yep totaly agree on your way of looking at it!
I must admit tho im on 150 miles roughly and did over rev her to 7k on a neccesary overtake the other day (think the idiot was drunk and i wanted past him) so i did and put a good few cars between us also.
Ive broken in otherbikes and my dealer always sais to me "come on nobody ever sticks to 5000 rpm" lol
This time he is correct but ots not like i red lined it so im not at all concerned for a breif blip.

Welcome aboard fella.
Ditto:grin2: I'm a partner in our family precision engineering company based in North Notts i've made a few bits and bobs, trouble is despite having all the machines i need.... i don't get the time to play enough haha. Got loads of things i want to do when time permits.
That's the problem I dont really get time to knock stuff up as I am always busy on work stuff, But I do get to make a few bits every now and then.

Also I know the extra bits you can add on from yamaha etc are pretty expensive but they look good and would take a lot of hours to make some of them so sometimes easier to buy off the peg!

I have ordered the xsr chain guard and also a scorpion exhaust so a nice couple of additions! hopefully get them onto the bike for the weekend!

Nail on the head right there, that's the trouble you can't compete with mass produced parts. I've made some nice reservoir covers for mine and my mates MT-07 and a few spare and they look pretty cool and unique as you can't buy the design as i designed it..:grin2:
