Hi all, just joined this evening.

Had my xsr 700 about two and half weeks now and loving it, I've done about 750 miles so far and it's getting better and better every run.

This is my first bike, been driving Vespa t5's and Px 125' s since 1989 (I think).
Was fine back then as you didn't have the two yearly cbt stuff to worry about.

Anyway, having lost the will to live doing cbt every 2 years I decided to get the finger out and get rid of the L plates I then discovered on my lessons on an xj6n that riding proper bikes was great fun ?

So two months later, after 1 failed MOD 1 with a foot down, I find myself with a brand spanking new forest green xsr.

Happy days !!!

PS, still kept my Vespa, I'll always be a scooterboy at heart ?

Brave move choosing this as a first bike but of course not nearly as bad as a 600cc+ sport bike, at least here its move forgiving.
Have you started looking at modification and/or accessories as yet?
I thought as a first bike it would be a good one, perfect height and seating position for me. It's quite a light bike so felt like it would be a good one to start off with. I did like that power seemed to be distributed across the range rather than kicking it at higher revs on other mid range bikes.

Haven't really thought much about customising yet. I did put a puig vision windscreen on it today and noticed a huge improvement with motorway driving. Wind much less of an issue and where it was sitting at 70-72mph at 5000 rpm without the screen it sits at 76-78mph at that now. Might not seem a huge difference but having driven scooters for years that sort of increase would require a kit or at least an expansion chamber and up jetting.

I'll probably run it as stock for a while before pondering about any changes.

Welcome aboard Dave
Great choice and it definitely is a good first bike, a nice transition from a 600.
I did my lessons on an XJ600 too, the XSR was my first bike as well.. it's such an easy bike to ride so it was a no brainer for me.
Welcome Dave!

I'm in the same club as you, this is my first "proper" bike after years of 125's and CBTs before doing my direct access and picking up another forest green XSR at easter. I'm at ~8,000 miles now, with one tour of central europe clocked up on it (9 countries, 3,000 miles!), and plenty of cross-country trips between london and the southwest since then; it's a great bike!
Welcome, sounds like youve been having fun. First bike for me also. Loving the whole custom element of the xsr. Sure it wont be long until you catch the custom bug :)
Welcome, Dave - good choice of colour!
Thanks for the warm welcome everybody.

Anyone else on here from Scotland?
Got to the party late.. Welcome to the boards Dave !! Running as stock for a while... the mod bug will bite you soon enough ;)
I put a radiator guard on yesterday as I could see the red ending up in a mess if I didn't. So other than the screen that's been my modding thus far ?
Anyone else on here from Scotland?
Hi, yes, I'm in the Aberdeen area :smile2:
Sweet. I'm in Aberdeen also. Rideout?
Yet to get the bike :frown2: but sounds interesting.
Awesome. What's the eta for the bike?
Week today, hopefully the sun gods will show their pleasure, unlike today!

Great news, drop me a pm or thread start when ready for a ride.

Definitely, was wheeling out the bike for commute this morn, thankfully the thunderstorm started before i left the house. I had to abandon the bike in favour of the car :(
