I would just like to say hello to you all. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be spending a fair amount of time on the forum. I've always had sportsbikes up to now but tomorrow I'm picking up my new bike.. you guessed it.. an XSR700 in Forest Green. Looking forward to riding and modding!!

Hi Jez,
Welcome to the forum. I'm fairly new on here too, lots of good info and some great mods to look at.
I've had mine a month now and still running it in - short shifting and keeping to around 5k max rev is a pain though, got my 600 mile service booked in for next week...so once the oils changed and everything checked i should be able to let loose a bit more.:grin2:
Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forums ! Can't wait to see what mods you get done to it, anything in mind for a first ?
Welcome!

With this whole line of bikes coming out that offer a more relaxed but sporty alternative to sport bikes i've been seeing more and more sport bike owners jumping on.

What sport bikes have you owned?
My current bike is a Honda CBR600RR. Before that I had a Triumph Daytona and an Aprilia. I think I'll find it a bit strange at first. On the test ride I couldn't even find the foot pegs at first!!

I'd like to fit the short seat, smaller front mudguard, maybe some fork gaiters. I've seen pictures of XSR's with "scrambler" tyres and some Renthal braced handlebars which looked good too. :smile2:

My Best mate had a CBR600 and he swapped to an MT-07 which is essentially the same machine, he was worried that it might feel alot slower.....but he was/is pleasantly surprised by the performance/handling...he absolutely loves it..:smile2:
I'd imagine the biggest difference you'll find is the wind...!!

Oh nice ! Sounds like a great way to start the modifying. The smaller mudguard, contrary to what I though, actually does provide some pretty good coverage and protection. But I think the scrambler tires on the XSR would definitely transform the look overall.

Scrambler tyres look awesome but can't help thinking A= They'd wear down at an alarming rate and B= handling would be severely compromised?..

I had an old 1992 CBR600 before I upgraded to a brand new XSR700.
The XSR700 almost feels faster due to the torque. I didn't like running at about 6500-7000RPM before passing a car when the opportunity came. I also find the riding position much more comfortable on the XSR. I hope you'll be happy with your new XSR!

Snap. I was just about to set off on a test ride and dropped my feet back and nearly hit the pillion pegs. Had to look down to find where my feet should go :grin2:
