Arthritis causes me pain when leaning forward to grasp the handlebars. While arching my back to ride and keep my head up and on a swivel is good for my posture and safety, I am lazy and would like to slump on the seat ... make more like a cruiser and less like a crotch rocket. So, I need the bars back and up. Has anyone done this? I have seen barback risers that ostensibly move the bars up and back 20mm. If anyone has done this, did it require replacement (longer) cables? How does this work without blocking the gas cap? Has anyone replaced the entire handlebar assembly with something that reaches up and farther back?
I can get along with the stock bars because most of my rides are no more than a couple of hours. But if I go cruising ... I need a bit more comfort. I plan to get a softer seat.
