I've seen several comments about the turn signal stalks used on the XSR 700 (as well as many other bikes out there today) because they are very flexible and do tend to move around a bit at speed. Although I don't know for sure, I'd imagine that those who complain aren't old enough to remember the stalks of the pre-80's that were pot metal, stiff extensions connected to pot metal light housings that seemed to be made with the express intention of making the manufacturers a lot of money every time there was a tip-over when both would break immediately. Back then everyone was saying, "when will they make turn signals that won't snap off every time the bike tips over?" I think about that every time I see this complaint because I've experienced it myself, more than once.
