I can confirm the front brake lever is bent and not biting correctly when pressed, the rear brake pedal not angled correctly. Handle bars bent, tank has a dint, headlight dinted along with a scratch on the forks.
Unsure on the engine case, due to mud.
All my limbs accounted for, no blood, no scars, no glory!
Armoured jackets saved me, along with armoured jeans. Shark helmet did it's job.
I'm now home on the PS4 playing Tom Clancy's Siege and missing out on the camping in -2 degree weather.
Estimate is back. £3,100 worth of damages. So that price covers replacement only. No repairs. So all new parts.
She'll have lost her new bike smell. Alas, it's going to be my commuter for the foreseeable and beyond. It'll be dropped man times before she's put to rest.
Much like when you drop your new phone for the first time. No more babying it
I just need to get a new helmet. All my other gear is still fine. Just looks aged, some nice patina
Firstly, I wish that was the last time you came so close to the asphalt .
Secondly, I would like to ask you how you felt the tyres responding to the wet road. I felt a bit unsure riding in the rain.
I've been on the XSR all over winter. Never once doubting the tyres.
We didn't set off in the snow, I never would. We were caught out in the middle of a national park, high up on the hill. The tyres having given me awesome confidence riding in and out of town.
They've responded well, allowing me to feel the impending loss of traction on grit, rain, white lines on the road. Not snappig and losing traction, but stuttering in the extremes.
So I've been able to feel the bike sending me messages, if that make sense. I have 0 doubts about riding in the rain. I think 90% of the time I've been on the XSR since purchase has been in the rain!
I am tempted however to get a second hand Honda MXS125 (Grom) for bad weather months. Put some nobbly tyres on and just abuse it. Use it as the slag bike
Oof! You're braver than me, I've been waiting for nicer weather before doing a trip to Scotland.
"First one on the road ... first one OFF!" I really don't want to follow suit and be second one off!
What's the most expensive part they have to replace?
Having had a nasty crush with my XJ6, the first accessory I demanded to be installed by my dealer, before I took the bike, was the original MT07 sliders. KaptinOrsum thanks for the feedback on the tyres, I just assume that the uncertainty I feel is dew to the fact that I haven't run enough Kms on this new tyres.
