Anyone got either a Premier Trophy or Nexx XG100 helmet?

Hi all

Wanting to get a retro full face helmet (to suit my £200 budget!), and narrowed it down to the above.

Have any forum members got these and if so, what are your opinions etc please?

I'm more in favour of the Premier but not sure on the 'square' chin bar.....

Don't want a Biltwell as they're only DOT rated.....but I did rather like the ****** S!

I've no local stockists so can't just pop into a dealer hence any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks all

Hey Guy,

My Girlfriend has the Premier Trophy in yellow and I really liked the green/gold or black checkered version. Square chin bar is also really cool!

No denying it is a stylish helmet. I honestly thought I would use her helmet for the occasional weekend ride but a couple of observations have prevented me bothering (also its a yellow helmet on green bike ;)).

1. Sunglasses/glasses dont fit or at least its uncomfortable and a serious pain to take them on/off.

2. The helmet is noisy and the visor will let the wind and bits of rain in.

3. The visor poppers are tricky to use and deafening when the pop on (to the point id rather click them down then put helmet on).

4. Visor steams very quickly, (see point 3).

For pillion and style my GF loves it, as a practical daily helmet for a commuting rider or any serious distance with all that xsr700 wind noise I wouldn't bother and best kept as a second helmet.

All that said, no denying it is seriously retro in style and function. The interior is really classy, the helmet is 4 star sharp rated and it looks great. but be warned it comes with compromises.

No doubt as will all the retro helmets. Urban Rider sell them and have free returns. Id say go for it and return the least preferred.

Hope this helps.

I tried both a Premier and a Bell Bullitt, The premier was super tight on the side of my head and the as chop juice mentioned above the poppers were too awkward for me. I always open my visor at lights so I sent it back.

I then got a Bullitt. I had to go a size up as again they fit tight. It has a magnetic closure tab so the visor is easy to open and close. It never steams up even in the cold weather. However, it is noisy (I religiously wear ear plugs anyway) and there is a lot of wind that comes under the helmet, it's nice in the summer but can get cold when the temp drops below 10c. It does look cool though!
Hi

Thanks for the advice - I know there'll be some compromise with a retro style but after reading your comments I'll wait until the NEC bike show in November so I can try several before handing over the £'s!

I like the Bell but they do seem very expensive .....for my wallet anyway!

Cheers

I agree mate, they are too steep. Luckily I got mine as an end of line product from Urban rider and managed to get it for £280 as opposed to the original price of £450! Fortunately there is a lot more competition popping up in the retro section so hopefully prices might start to get more competitive.
Decided to go for the Nexx - think it'll be more practical than the Premier, and like the fact that it can be varied with goggles / visor /peak etc.

Do I go for silver to match my bike, classic white or Matt black? Decisions decisions....!

Thanks again for the pointers
Ok - got it narrowed down to the Nexx Rocker and Devon. Both are 'proper' retro and I can get either cheaper than the solid colours......

I can't decide though! So - which do you reckon? I'm off to the dealer on Thursday so I'll probably end up changing my mind at the last minute!

This is the Rocker.....
