Akrapovic stainless steel exhaust

In another thread I mentioned that I had ordered and was getting an Akrapovic Stainless Steel exhaust installed for the XSR.

I was quite happy when the garage I like said that they could get the exhaust and fit it while doing the 1000km first service.

Unfortunately it seems like the part number for this exhaust is shared by 3! different exhausts. 2 for the XSR and 1 for MT-07. Apparently the only one available is the MT-07 and the garage didn't notice this before putting it on.

Good news is:
  • The exhaust looks really good in my opinion
  • The exhaust sounds pretty good
  • Can hardly see the MT-07 branding unless you kneel down
  • The garage said I could easily sand it off using 1000 grit paper after the exhaust is worn in a bit

I like the look quite a lot. Gratz.

Thanks! Have only had time for the trip home from the garage until now. I found it pleasing to rev the engine and watch cars move over and give me room while lane splitting in heavy traffic. :nerd:
Great before and after video! Did you feel any difference while riding besides having people move out of the way? :grin2:

I've been out for some more riding now, and I haven't felt much of a difference other than the sound. The exhaust could honestly be a little louder, but I fear it will be too loud if I take out the DB-killer.
My favourite part is when I start up the bike and I hear the growl.

Thinking about getting one?
So from what i know there is four akro exhausts. High mount is one...carbon fibre is another, then you have the twin double exhaust which is the scrambler style and the one you have...you have been sold the mt07 there is a xsr700 one that is very similar but between the two inner pipes on the baffle is a verticle piece of metal... And it has a xsr700 logo on it...so they sold you a mt07 exhaust which is fine...but really they should have sold you the one with the xsr700 logo on it. When you the baffle essentially its the same thing.
Sorry that end bit....once the baffle is removed it looks the same
I heard your exhaust on a mt07 today no db killer and wow it is loud, sounds like a ducati on steroids, so loud...great safety feature...i bet cars can hear you coming no worries. Even if they are on their phones or listening to music..they would feel a thump right through their panties.
Yeah, this is the MT-07, the problem or challenge is that akrapovic in their wisdom has decided to use the same part number for 3! different exhausts. As far as me and the dealer could see the same parts number is used for the MT-07 stainless, XSR stainless and the XSR double pipe: 90798-33450-00
So the vendor ordered the part with the number 90798-33450-00, and got the MT-07 delivered. Could say that it was quite sloppy of him not to notice the MT-07 logo when he mounted the exhaust (At least that's what he claimed).

To be honest I just wanted the bike at that point in time. It was a lot of hassle for me to deliver the bike and get home, and to collect the bike. The MT-07 logo is hardly visible and should be possible to remove as well if I can be bothered to do it. The sound is very pleasant, all though it could be a tad louder. There are some videos on youtube showing how to remove the dB killer. I could do that, or I could remove the dB killer and drill some holes in it which will also make it a bit louder.

I have just had Akra dual pipe fitted and yes its loud. Love every bit of it.

Yeah, saw your video, excellent work. My video skills weren't good enough to capture the true sound of the stainless I think. Your dual exhaust did sound quite beefy. Sound wise it might be better, but personally I prefer the look of the stainless.

I'm thinking of the dual pipe from Akrapovic.
Is it loud with the DB-killer and Katalyser in it?
Because whithout I think it isn't legal overhere... :(
